Hero was released in 1983 and was showman
Subhash Gai's first production under his newly established film banner Mukta
Arts. Being a movie with the lead cast comprised of totally new actors, Hero had a
slow run at the box office but rocketed after a few sluggish weeks.
The movie became a huge success and its music echoed in the streets of
Indian subcontinent years. The Laximikant-Pyarelal couple was already on
the top at the time and with Hero they smashed records of popularity.
Hero is considered to be one of the 80's greatest classics with a very
melodious and touching music.
